By becoming part of the team and drawing on the support of experienced colleagues, you will not only give your thesis that extra edge, but also help shape the container industry of tomorrow. At the same time, your thesis lays the perfect foundation for your career at ELA.
First things first: if you want to write your thesis at ELA, you should complete a three-month internship with us beforehand. The advantage is that you can already get used to the team and your new responsibilities before starting your thesis without a long settling-in period.
Send us your application documents around four to six weeks before your preferred start date, including your preferred specialist area and some initial topic ideas. We can then finalize your topic together no later than during your internship.
By the way: We accept applications throughout the year and are already looking forward to hearing your exciting ideas.
In principle, internships are possible at all German locations and, by arrangement, at our international locations as well. Together with other new interns and employees, you start your time at ELA with a comprehensive onboarding program. After that, things get serious in your chosen department:
During your internship, you support us for 40 hours a week. Whether you are an early bird or like to take it slow in the morning, our flextime arrangement lets you start your day between seven and nine o’clock. You also benefit from a total of 45 minutes of breaks, which you can distribute throughout the day as you wish. Depending on when you start, your workday can end as early as 4 p.m., leaving enough time to meet friends or enjoy your hobbies. A special highlight on Fridays: in most cases, the day ends at 1 p.m., so you can ease into the weekend. Once your thesis begins, your routine changes. Instead of spending the whole week with us, you only work on two days and can use the rest of the time to focus fully on writing.
People who work hard also need the occasional break. That is why you receive two vacation days for each full month of your internship.

The basic requirement for writing a thesis in cooperation with ELA is that you are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program. Your current certificate of enrollment from your university or university of applied sciences is sufficient proof. In addition to being enrolled as a student, you should also have a good command of German and English. Some initial practical experience in your chosen field is an advantage so that you can settle in quickly and benefit from a high-quality thesis in the end.
